Le Billet defends her IRC Crown, Wild Joe gets the Double, Series wrap up

In a series that's had it all, Bill Ebsary's Beneteau 44.7 ‘Le Billet' has defended her IRC series crown by winning the historical 27th Pittwater & Coffs Harbour Offshore Series, altered this year due to severe weather conditions lashing the mid North Coast, forcing the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club's series organisers to change course and host the event from Pittwater , the first time in the 27 year tradition of the event.

Race Five - The Far South, South Solitary Island Race

Saturday 5th January 2008, 5pm

Le Billet, in an unbeatable position leading into today's Race five, the final race of the series, an 11nm race within spectacular Pittwater renamed the Far South, South Solitary Islands race in honour of  our friends in Coffs Harbour,  deeply disappointed the fleet weren't able to get to Coffs this year for their annual sojourn and "fun in the sun, " she  competed and won, the final race of the series.

Kick back in Harmony with PHS Win

The Harmony range is new to Australia and therefore a debutante to the Pittwater to Coffs Race & Series. In it's first attempt, the Harmony 42, 'Kick Back' , owned and skippered by RPAYC member Steve Hobbs, took out the PHS Division in the altered course,  2008 Pittwater to Coffs Race.

Race 5 tomorrow - the Far South, South Solitary Islands Race

Wild Joe wins IRC Handicap honours of altered Pittwater to Coffs Race

Friday 4th January 2008 3:00pm

Steven David's 'Wild Joe' has been declared the overall IRC handicap winner of the altered 2008 Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Yacht Race, the re-routed 210nm Pittwater return Race.  In PHS Division, handicap honours went to Steven Hobbs Harmony 42 'Kick Back' . Both yachts represent The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.

Provisional Division Splits of Race 4 - Pittwater to Pittwater Race

Thursday 3rd January  2008 11.30pm

With only five boats left still to finish, the provisional Divisional splits have been announced. The final boats are expected to cross the line somewhere between 12:30am and 1am Friday morning.

The bulk of the fleet now safely back in Pittwater, all expected in tonight

A further 27 yachts have now completed the course since the 6pm sked was radioed in by the fleet still at sea. There are still 16 yachts still to complete the course tonight and with only two retirees Amante and Carats n Kilos, the whole fleet is accounted for.

Fifteen boats now back at the RPAYC with 6pm sked now underway

With 6pm sked almost complete, the affectionately named "2008 Pittwater to Pittwater" ocean race now has fifteen boats over the line with many making their way down Pittwater to the RPAYC dock for a well earned shower and customary drink or two with crew and family.

Three more complete their journey as the front of the fleet start to near the finish line

Three more yachts have crossed the finish line in the 210nm race Pittwater to Pittwater race.  Two Farr 40OD are now home with Jeff Carter's 'Revolution Edake' (RPAYC) the first of these to finish to be 3rd over the line and 1st  in the PHS Division, who completed her journey at 2:54pm in an elapsed time of 26hrs 54mins and 55 secs. Following just under 50 minutes after her was Matthew Short's 'Short Shipped' in an elapsed time of 27hrs 42mins 13secs to finish 4th. 'Short Shipped', representing  he RMYC Port Hacking is competing in the IRC Division.

Steven David and his 'Joe crew go wild with their win

Steven David aboard his 60 foot Reichel Pugh 'Wild Joe' says it was a "fantastic feeling" to win the inaugural Pittwater- Port Stephens-Botany Bay-Pittwater Race, after crossing the line at precisely 8:11am this morning.

Wild Joe crosses the finish line at 8:11am

Steven David's 'Wild Joe' has just crossed the finish line at precisely 8:11am, to be the first boat across the line in the alternate race in the Pittwater to Pittwater via Port Stephens and Botany Bay. The elapsed time for the 210nm journey was 20hrs 11mins 12 secs.

 'Spirit of Qld' is expected to finish in the next couple of hours, 21.6 nm from the finish line, currently she is just off Maroubra.
